Dispersion trench

Required by Pierce County as part of their storm water management guidelines, the purpose of the dispersion trench is to channel water from downspouts and footer drains to the wetland buffer (to the west) so it doesn't carry sediment directly into local streams and rivers. The County required completion of this work for granting occupancy to the house.

Drains from downspouts from house and garaage gutters and pipes around the house foundation route water to the dispersion trench. which contained 900 cubic feet of drain rock, about 60 tons.

Water knows where it wants to go and the contour of the land dictated that In reality the stormwater drained into the drainage ditch, not to the wetland buffer. Not the only useless and expensive requirement.
