Daugher Bevin gifted a supply of daffodils and camas the previous fall. These flowered during our first spring in the house. Also she planted batchelor buttons, iris, black-eyed susan, and calendula.
Bags containing numerous bulbs of various sorts (dahlia, liatris) filled a shopping cart and soon, raised beds, containers and amended flower beds next to the house, along with geraniums in pots and .
During the first summer we built flower beds, taking saving dahlia and liatris for new flowerbeds, populating one with hosta and astilbe, others with calendula, jonquils, tulips and a few daffodils. We planned to grow vegetables in the raised beds.
