Building a home for the tractor
When we bought the Kubota tractor we gave it the shelter and security of the garage, demoting our pickup to the outside. We didn't intend to perpetuate this injustice so thinking and planning led to an unexpected scenario.
From David's gardening past he had a steel frame for a hoop house, which had served well as a greenhouse. Careful measurement happily revealed that it was long enough, wide enough and tall enough to comfortably house the tractor and an implement or two.
It took more thinking and planning to make this conversion and prepare for the fog, rain and high winds common here. Time would tell how effective this approach would be, but overall it is more cost-effective than constructing a permanent structure.
Preparation for the shed began in October of 2024. David leveled and squared twelve foundation blocks to position the frame squarely. Then he set ground anchors (embedded in 1 cubic foot of concrete) and wired each to the frame to hold it to the ground.
By May 2025, he assembled the frame and made measurements for a cover. In June Tacoma Tent installed a canvas cover, completing a project of unexpected duration. There was room for the tractor implements and for some of the gardening and yard-working tools, with unexpected storage space above the tractor.
