Laying out the garage pad

After defining the pad for the house we extended and leveled the pad for the garage to be sure the pad is the correct size and ready for footer and stem wall forms.

"Dirt work"  like this is exhausting work, back and forth, one direction then another. The contractor compacted the pad after leveling it.

The cement trucks for the pours had already been ordered so finishing the pad and putting up the forms was a crunch-time activity. And this was January so we were always concerned about weather and temperature.

For both the house and the garage there was to be only one pour for the footers and stem walls. A second pour for slabs and support piers was scheduled later.
