Hooking into the power grid
Rumor had it that there was a conduit under the road for running electricity from the transformer to a future home. It mattered because if there was our contractor wouldn't need to tear up the asphalt road and we could save considerable expense.
Luckily, Puget Sound Energy had laid a conduit before the road was paved. So the contractor excavated on the other side of the road and found it.
He dug a trench from there to the future site of the pump house, some 110 feet west, and created a pit for a temporary pole and electricity meter.
Along with the main conduit he ran a smaller one back to the location of the trailer. When he hooked these toegther we had power in the trailer! No longer did we need to run the generator to have cool air from the air conditioner.
His next steps were to install service entrance for the pump houise and the future connection to the house, and the transfer switch for the future generator.
