Pouring footers and stem walls
The house plans provided intricate details on the construction of the foundations for the house and garage. The concrete crew needed to follow explicit instructions about the construction of the forms to satisfy these requirements. Dimensions of each section, height of the stem walls, placements of the supports, location of posts and the absolute plumb and level of all the walls were critical to effectively placing the modules of the house on the foundations. First, of course the contractor ensured that the pads were level.
The special mixture of the concrete that was pumped needed to be suitable for the structure and the hardness of the final work. Concrete for footers and stem walls for both the house and garage foundations were pumped from a rig attached to concrete trucks through a large hose to allow reaching all the different extents of the foundation.
The contractor poured footers and stem walls in a single run. Pouring of slabs was scheduled at a later time after forms had been removed from the stem walls.
