Clearing out and fixing up
We were preparing to leave the Snoqualmie property from the time we purchased the property in Graham/Kapowsin.
All the things i have been trying to get around to for years, suddenly seemed urgent as we prepared to put the house on the market. So many good intentions that never made it to the top of a to-do list. It was frightening to see how much needed to be done now, but as each item was completed a sense of relief and accomplishment provided solace. As with getting the property in Graham/Kapowsin we were making progress on our ambitious project of having a new home the way that we wanted.
During the time when we bought the property and extending to days before the open house, we attacked the long list of to-dos.
- Hired junk removal companies twice to carry away long standing junk that we obviously weren't ever going to use. David dismantled the hoop house and the tents at the garden, intending to move them eventually to the property.
- Cleaned the horse barn and made it suitable for storage.
- Hired an arborist to remove dead trees and brush at the driveway.
- Prepared latex paint for legal disposal (The most onerous task was preparing many old cans of latex paint that had been in the pump house since forever for taking to a transfer station. He poured paint into bags contains cat litter and waited for it to dry. There's that one about "watching paint dry." It takes a long time this way!)
- Finished the retaining wall between the driveway and the greenhouse, cleared piles of dirt and rock next to the west deck and extended the ground lights. Finally, he received a panel to replace the broken roof of the greenhouse.
